Maintaining Your Identity in Plastic Surgery - Michigan

There is a terrific video on our In the Media page that features Dr. Michelle Hardaway on the news. The topic is Plastic Surgery and Maintaining Your Identity and they discuss the latest trend of minorities getting Plastic Surgery. In years past Plastic Surgery was often shunned by minorities who thought it would anglicize them and they would lose a vital part of their identity.

Now, however, since shows like Extreme Makeover have brought Plastic Surgery into millions of homes around the country, there has been a dramatic spike in Plastic Surgery among minorities. So much so, in fact, that last year Plastic Surgery among Hispanics, African-Americans, Asians and other Non-Caucasians accounted for 20 percent of the procedures done that year.

More and more people are beginning to realize that Plastic Surgery doesn’t have to take away your identity, but rather it can enhance what you already have.
