For anyone recovering from cosmetic surgery, patience is key. Patients who have undergone rhinoplasty surgery can expect their face to be swollen, sore and may be bruised for up to two weeks after their procedure. Some patients find their their nose continues to look or feel swollen for several moths after the procedure. Don’t worry, soon you will look in the mirror and see the nose you’ve always wanted.
Immediately following the procedure, patients will be required to sit elevated for at least 24 hours. It is common to have a dull headache to accompany the swelling and bruising. Around day 3 the swelling and bruising will peak and shortly after begin to subside. Dr. Hardaway will give a number of post op instructions including no blowing of the nose and avoiding bending over.
Patients that closely follow their post op instructions generally recover faster than those that don’t. Your rhinoplasty consultation will include information about preparing for the procedure, how the procedure will be performed and additional recovery information.
